added these into stock today.
Our neighbors to the west on University ave are Midwest Barber Co and NweLife Tattoo, all in the same dope spot. Tilt over at NewLife hand painted this new sandwich board sidewalk sign. It's basically done by GoonSquad Sign Co, that's right! They make dope signs as well, boom. Check out their spot for a tattoo, haircut, shave, and overall goodness. And a big thanks to Furniture Lounge for even including me in the sign idea discussion, it was a really neat surprise to see it.
Haven't checked in for a bit, here are some things I planted up today, as of this post all of them are still available.
A lot of people seem to have a difficult time finding Plant Mode, I think this might help.
I can't really express how lucky I am to have the support of so many awesome people. You all really help me get this Plant Mode idea off the ground. The most recent falling star wish come true kind of event was Amanda and Scott letting me set up shop inside their awesome shop. So yeah, some of you know that Plant Mode is now set up in the back loft space at Furniture Lounge. Here are just a few looks of how things are shaping up. I plan on increasing the house wares, and getting some larger tropicals in soon. Please come by and check it out. And if for some strange reason you have not yet been in to Furniture Lounge, well....that's just dumb.
Furniture Lounge is located at 11 e. University ave, between Walnut and Neil, basically across the street from the City Building.
I am in the shop Tuesdays 12-5, Wednesday 11-5, and Saturdays 12-5 if you want some Matthis/Plant Mode fun. Furniture Lounge can sell you things when i'm not in the shop (cash only when i'm not in the shop)
Plant Mode had a very fun and successful time at The Made Fest last weekend, I mean really, it was a blast. So much energy and time went into the prep, the weekend was a blur. Now things are calm enough for me to think about the next move on the horizon for Plant Mode.
Starting this coming Saturday October 4th, Plant Mode will begin a 3 month stint at Furniture Lounge. Things may go on past January, but we are starting with a 3 month partnership to get things off the ground. And as Amanda from Furniture Lounge said, "it's expected that Plant Mode will need to move into a larger space", once one opens up in our fair downtown.
Here are the logistics of Plant Mode in Furniture Lounge.
Every Saturday I will be posted up in the rear lofted area of Furniture Lounge, selling the hell out of plants. Basically like a permanent Pop Up Shop. Amanda and or Scott will be holding down the fort at Furniture Lounge as they always do. These Hours will be 12-5pm.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday I will be at Furniture Lounge (as a Furniture Lounge Employee) This means customers of Furniture Lounge will be my first priority, but of course if you come to look at plants up in the rear loft area, I will be there to talk to you about it, and will be able to sell you plants. These hours will be 12-4pm.
It's like saying Plant Mode will be "open" Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays inside of Furniture Lounge. No plant sales on Thursday and Fridays. Sunday and Monday, you can purchase any plants that are in the loft space, but I will not be there to teach you about the plants. Really, I'd rather you come and buy plants when I"m there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays....
This is Scott and Amanda as drawn by Carly...
The furniture that Plant Mode sells will not be at these Furniture Lounge hours, but still available at the Loft Space on Main street. The 8 Main street loft space location will also be where I will have client meetings and any after hours sales and appointments. This is a fluid situation, and we will work things out as we go along.
I will start to bring in a few larger plants, and a few lines of planters and such. In a week or two, there will be a mobile potting station, so you can have things planted up on the spot, or even bring in things to be planted up.
Furniture Lounge is located at 11 E University Ave, in downtown Champaign. South side of the street, next door to The Brass Rail (my favorite bar!)
Hello. I'm a bunch of Plants!
Please excuse the fuzzy Iphone/Instagram photos... no time to pull out the Lumix. We have three unique types of Pepperomia Plants, Diffenbacia, ZZ's, Ficus Deltoides, Two types of Jasmine, Moringa Trees, Purple Oxalis, Staghorn Ferns, and well.. about 15 other varieties of tropicals. These are going to be loose plants in the 4"d plastic grower pots. Ready to head home with you. If you have a nice planter for these, Plant Mode can plant it up for you, but not at this event. Not gonna be planting up at the Pop Up this Saturday.
A couple hanging baskets, string of pears, and burros tail... and a gizzillion 2" and 3" succulents and cacti. These are way fun to buy because everyone has a thin window sill for them to live on. Jades Pencil Cacti, I mean.. just too many to name.
Plant Mode will be bringing the Bud Vases, and Locally Made Ceramics to this Pop Up. So... yeah.
There will also be a new batch of Marimo, and Air Plants at the Pop Up. Again. 11-3 Saturday. Swing by the opening Party on friday night for a sneak peak of Plant Modes goods, and to get in on the sale of Furniture Lounge goods. Happy Birthday to them indeed. This is going to be a fun weekend.
Furniture Lounge is turning 12 this weekend. They are having a really great 3 day event, Friday, Sat, Sunday. They were kind enough to ask Plant Mode to represent on the Pop Up Shop tip. So... I will be set up in the loft space in the rear of their shop from 11am until 3pm. Stop by, buy a plant, check out Furniture Lounge, and well... have a blast. Lots of fun goin on that weekend, so please make us one of your Downtown Champaign stops.
Lots of succulents, Lots of air plants (tillandsia), lots of planted up little cute things, lots of Marimo Moss Balls, and well.. lots of fun. Cards and cash accepted. Some items will be in place Friday if you want to have a nice pre look. Brian Hollaway will be playing some smooth jams on the Friday Night Reception.
If you do the facebook thing, check out the event page here, and while you are at it, like Plant Mode's Facebook page.
