A few years ago when I worked at Sprout Home up in Chicago a really nice young fellow came into out shop with a box of the most amazing doughnuts. He said that they had just opened a shop called the Doughnut Vault and that if we liked what we tasted that we should stop by some time. A few weeks later I was out on a delivery to the Merchandise Mart and was close enough to try to stop by, as the Doughnut Vault is at Franklin and Kinzie, right behind the Mart. There was a line of like 100 people.... I never really tried to go back for that reason.
Fast forward to a month ago, and I get an email from Austin, the owner of the Doughnut Vault. It seems his friend James had bought a Plant Mode piece a couple months ago for his newly opened second location. He was inquiring about getting another similar piece. James bought him a rad Iron Object Air Plant set up. Very cool, very bold. I always loved that piece, and was pretty happy to know that it was going to be in some shop somewhere in Chicago, I had no idea it was going to live among tasty doughnuts! So yeah.... I brought two more different Iron/Air Plant set ups for this second location (111 N. Canal) It was super cool to meet Austin, and also super cool to be tipped in Doughnuts! The images are pretty the same pieces, we were playing around with where they might end up. Of course my favorite images is of Austin and the tree pieces.
Thanks Doughnut Vault!
